About Lake Pardee
Lake Pardee readies itself every year in early February for it's opener. Check back to see, rainbow trout, kokanee, both large and smallmouth bass. Not to mention crappie, bluegill .
The early season are trout, the lake is planted and have decent to large sized of 2 to 10 pounds and better caught.
You strategy has to address the rain and temperature and clarity of the lake this time of year.
Clear water, lures run alone if water murky use attractors. Our fishing report indicates imitation minnow Rebel or Rapalas colored rainbow, shad, black and silver if murkey, and gold and black if clear water..
Stick to the top 15-18 feet a good distance after the boat. Needlefish are always good in Gold Country lakes, as a way to mix things up, though they are light in weight, and you may have to put some lead weight or buy a down riggers Under the low visibility use attractors
Pardee is an excellent shore fishing lake, as the planted fish stick near the Marina, and they can pick them off using powerbait dipped in Maple syrup or salmon eggs or worms, combine any of these with cheese or marshmallow if things are not working. . A slip-sinker rig and light leader may be the top rig to start the season, but bobbers can’t be counted out of the equation. For bottom fishing, try a barrel sinker and 2 feet of 4-pound leader. For floats, the basic bobber will Work, but a slipbobber will allow you to finely tune the depth of the bait. ‘
WHERE ARE THEY? The easy answer is in the Marina Cove. From the bank, there is no better place to park yourself. From a boat, “where” becomes much more nebulous and you will have
to do a bit of searching, but the reward can be fat square-tailed holdovers who have ‘ forgotten that a hook can sting. Remember, when attempting to zero history can help. Just outside the Narrows was a happening spot last year; you may also want to check in on Woodpile Gulch. Then South Arm’s southwest shoreline near the Outlet Tower is another place of note, as is the intersection of the Channel Arm and the main lake.
Head upstream and give Grapevine Gulch a shot, especially the 100 yards on either 3 side of the waterfall. The bay across from Kirkwood Gulch can be good, and way up near the Log Boom, Indian Rock can almost always produce fish. r
LOCATION: Situated in the heart of the Gold Country, Lake Pardee is just a stone’s throw from Stockton and Sacramento. At an elevation of 580 feet, Lake Pardee covers 2,200 surface
acres and has 47 miles of shoreline. The Mokelume River supplies most of the water at this lake, but numerous small feeder streams contribute their flowsas well. Dozens of narrow gulches branch off the Channel Arm, and along the North and South arms y0u’1l find gentler coves and large bays. Typical of the Motherlode, Pardee sits in brush and oak studded hills, home to wild turkeys, deer, mountain lions and a few bald eagles.
SEASON & RULES: Lake Pardee is open on a seasonal basis, with fishing allowed from February to late October. A three-month yearly closure is tough to take for Pardee regulars, but the break in fishing pressure can make for outrageous opening days. Pardee is a water supply and as such is a no-contact lake. Don’t expect to see
swimmers, water skiers or personal watercraft here. Float tubing is allowed, but anglers must wear waders.
The marina and Narrows have a 5 m.p.h. no-wake speed limit that is strictly enforced, but the remainder of the lake is posted at 25 mph.
FACILITIES: Run by the East Bay Municipal Utility District, with concessions operated by the Lake Pardee Marina, this hot spot offers developed campsites and RV sites with full hookups. The lake has a broad, multi- lane boat launching ramp with docks, a full service marina and well-stocked tackle shop. You can rent a boat, tank up your vessel with gas or take care of your catch at the fish cleaning station. You‘ll also find two swimming pools, a restaurant and a store. The park has showers, picnic sites and handicap access.

There are two swimming pools, a restaurant and store, picnic areas. showers and laundromat, and hiking trails.
